We've had the privilege to share the gospel in Russia one on one, to
small groups and in huge events. We've sponsored crusades in the
Olympic Stadium and the famous Gorky Park. We put on large
evangelistic dramas in downtown Moscow. We've seen healing crusades or
music festivals draw thousands. Among those who have received the Lord
were a Moscow Circus performer and two famous Russian sports figures
(one in snow skiing and the other in water skiing). Converts also
include the Captain of a cruise ship and an ex major of the KGB!
#2 Church Planting
The outreaches or the ones we are now planning, are designed to either
start a new church or bring growth to an existing one. A local church
helps insure that the fruit of outreach remains!
One church was started in downtown Moscow, three blocks from Red Square
and the Kremlin. After a four night gospel festival, attended by about
5,000 people every night, six hundred people came to our first Sunday
service. Later, we baptized over 350 people at our first baptism.
After some years away, we are planning to again live in Russia, and
base ourselves at this Moscow Church; Moscow Christian Center,
Our Vision is to strengthen the churches we have planted. Then we want
to help them reproduce by planting new churches focus on the cities
around Moscow.
#3 Equiping Believers
Since a church is made up of "living stones," we want to make sure each individual in the churches we plant become strong in their faith and are able to function in their part of God's "building". To accomplish this, we have and plan to continue to teach the Word (#1 above), organize home cell groups (#2), prepare equipping tools (#3), provide books by Christian authors (#4), sponsor special teaching seminars (#5) and help raise up local leadership (#6). It is our heart to see the five leadership gifts designed to equip believers (in Ephesians 4:11-12 ) to be developed in local churches.
#4 Strengthening Praise, Worship & Prayer
Because GLORIFYING GOD and PRAYER are so foundational, we have and plan
to continue to strengthen these both in the local churches in Moscow
and Russia. We plan to continue sponsoring worship and prayer
conferences and nights of prayer and praise. We hope to help change
hearts and the heart of a nation.
#5 Creative Expression
We also take special delight to stir up creative gifts! Russians are
creative! This included not only what are normally considered creative
aspects of ministry like "Illustrated Sermons", drama or Christian
Ballet performances, but also to reflect our Creative God in all we
do. We want to release "New Creations".
#6 Ministry Throughout Russia
We have been blessed to have traveled and ministered throughout
Russia. We've preached the Word from the Southern Caucasus mountains
to a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle in the North. We've helped
start churches in the cities that border Europe in the West and taught
in a Bible School in Russia's far East close to Alaska - where it was
-15C outside and no heat in the building! I was ministering with a
thick winter coat on!
This travel has given us an understanding of different areas of
Russia. This has helped us to reach out to various individuals and
groups living in Moscow. The travel has also allowed us to open up
doors of ministry through networking.
#7 Networking
Networking with others has opened new avenues of ministry. The crusade
in photo on the left was a joint effort between Russian, Ukrainian,
Latvian, British, and American friends of ours. It resulted in seven
churches planted in the West of Russia.
#8 Mercy Ministries
In our outreaches we have tried to help those in hospitals, orphanages,
prisoners, the poor and elderly. We have often had the chance to
network with churches and organizations (including the Cadbury and
Mars Candy Companies) that have helped us reach out to the less
fortunate.
